Brief Overview
The Chatham University-Excela Health System Doctoral Internship program is a collaboration between partners, forming a consortium internship.
By merging our resources and opportunities, we are able to provide a unique clinical experience for doctoral interns in this key training period.
Interns will have the opportunity to:
Learn about and provide culturally informed, strength-based assessment
Learn about and provide ADHD assessments
Educate and support family medicine residents
Provide clinical supervision to first-year doctoral practicum students
Develop and present psychoeducation outreach programming
Provide counseling services both in person and via telehealth
Actively attend to your personal and professional wellness and career aspirations
The mission of our Consortium is to provide a developmental sequenced and experiential training for psychologists in training to provide competent, ethical, and culturally informed services to support the well-being of the clients and communities they serve.
Interns are at their respective sites four days a week, with the fifth day reserved for training. Interns from each site meet together weekly to engage in professional development, group supervision, Diversity Supervision, Assessment supervision, didactic seminars, and more.
Each site offers a variety of clinical services and training opportunities. Interns can also engage in some experiences at both sites. For example, an intern at Excela Health System will have the opportunity to provide assessments at Chatham and the intern at Chatham can observe the psychiatrist at Excela.
We offer a one-year, full-time doctoral internship beginning on July 28, 2028 and ending on July 27, 2025. Our internship is grounded in the practitioner-scholar model.
Our internship program has two sites: the Chatham University Counseling Center and the Excela Health System, specifically in the Family Medicine Residency Program.
